About Troy Doucet
Troy Doucet is a consumer lawyer and small business owner of a law firm located in Dublin. Troy’s legal career is dedicated to helping people and families going through tough financial times, especially foreclosure. His team of lawyers fight big banks, mortgage companies, and debt collectors. Their cases are filed in state and federal court.
Troy is married to Julie and has two daughters, Alondra (13) and Claire (born in May). Julie holds a Masters of Public Health and is a Certified Health Education Specialist. She works for a non-profit and teaches comprehensive sexual health education throughout the greater Columbus region. Their family lives in Hilliard with their two rescue dogs, Suzy and Bella.
Troy is recognized nationally for his work helping people facing foreclosure. He has published three books regarding the law, “23 Legal Defenses to Foreclosure,” “Regulation Z,” and “The Art of War for Lawyers.” He regularly teaches courses in the area of consumer protection and consumer banking regulations with a focus on protecting people.
Troy graduated from The Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree in economics. He graduated tenth in his class from Capital University Law School, magna cum laude. In law school, he volunteered at The Legal Aid Society and graduated with the most pro bono hours in his class. Troy continues to volunteer at a pro bono clinic regularly.
Troy has the highest attorney rating, AV, through the prestigious Martindale Hubble peer-reviewed survey. He has been recognized since 2014 as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers magazine. He has been recognized as a top lawyer in CEO magazine and Columbus Monthly. Stories about his cases have appeared in The Columbus Dispatch, Business First, and other local and national news outlets.
Super Lawyers magazine awarded Doucet & Associates Co., L.P.A. its national award for Doucet’s pro bono work. That award goes to law firms that work to improve the community through free and low cost legal services. His firm paid a lawyer to work for the poor for free in 2013-14. It is an award Troy is very proud to have won.
Troy’s mother and father live in Columbus, as does his sister Karla. Troy moved around the United States (and to Germany) growing up due to his father’s military service. His father, Dennis, retired from the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 30 years as a colonel. Dennis flew O2 planes in Vietnam and then B-52 planes at Strategic Air Command. His sister, Karla, works in the health field as a lab director at a medical research company.
